In 2009, the H1N1 virus epidemic started in Mexico City and I was just west of ground zero. I saw many people wearing white medical masks and they told me a deadly virus had just started. Luckily, I made it out the next day just before they shut the border to anyone that showed symptoms of this virus. Even though they tried to contain the virus, it spread around the world and the fear went with it. In the following years, the H1N1 mutated to H1N2 but the latest news from the CDC website is there is a new virus labeled H1N3. The symptoms being fever/chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose, muscle/body aches, headache, fatigue, vomiting, and diarrhea. Now the Corona Virus is now taking center stage with fear gripping every person that hears about it while it spreads from country to country.

But the truth be told, no virus can attack a healthy immune system. But there are many ways to protect our body’s immune systems from these powerful viruses that seem to come out of nowhere.

It is said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and the best defense is to keep the immune system strong. To do this get plenty of sleep, reduce stress, drink plenty of filtered water, eat only organic/non-GMO food, and take herbs and supplements before anything gets started.

When I feel the first symptoms of a virus taking hold, I reach for the homeopathic remedy ‘Oscillococcium’ (https://www.amazon.com/Boiron-Oscillococcinum-Flu-like-Symptoms-Count/dp/B000M256NW) and pour 1 vial under my tongue to let it slowly dissolve. Then I repeat that dosage every 6 hours till the symptoms subside. Next, I take the Source Naturals ‘Wellness Formula’ with every meal. Usually, this takes care of the flu but is good to know that mother nature has plenty of powerful herbs that help to fight off viruses by boosting the immune system and echinacea is one of them. It strengthens the thymus gland and if it is taken with organic/non-GMO Vitamin C, together the thymus and spleen boost the T-Cell production to clean the red blood cells and eradicate toxins and viruses of all kinds.

Another herb I just love is astragalus as it has adaptogenic qualities that help our body handle the changes in weather and it has natural antibiotic qualities that help prevent catching colds and flu.

Cat’s Claw is possibly the most powerful immune-enhancing herb in the world. The pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids found in this herb are said to modulate the immune system by increasing the activity of the white blood cells. This herb also increases the levels of interleukin-1 which raises body temperature, spurs the production of interferon and stimulates the growth of disease-fighting cells.

Elderberry reduces nasal congestion and sinus pain, but it also reduces nerve, leg and back pain. It is said to reduce the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome.

Garlic is a personal favorite of mine to use as a natural antibiotic. It is helpful for respiratory problems, parasites, poor digestion, and fatigue. When garlic is taken in a crushed form, the allicin kills bacteria and fungus, but it also reduces inflammation. It also has incredible antioxidant benefits.

Ginger contains bioactive compounds that are disease killers. It can be used fresh, dried, powdered or as a juice to help fight the common cold or flu, relieve nausea, upset stomach, gas, diarrhea, motion sickness, morning sickness, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Green tea helps fight viruses and it is the healthiest beverage on the planet which is loaded with antioxidants. It can improve brain function, increase fat loss and lower the risk of cancer. But it has a little bit of caffeine in it which can help with energy, but it will keep you awake so only drink it during the day.

Lomatium has strong antiviral properties with respiratory clearing actions. It helps relieve symptoms of influenza, but it is used as an antibacterial or antiseptic for yeast infections and athletes’ foot.

Olive Leaf-oleuropein, the main component in olive leaf extract, has antioxidant, antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and immune-stimulating properties.

Fresh oregano is a great herbal seasoning to treat indigestion, heartburn and reduce gas in the stomach, but oregano leaf extract has phytonutrients, carvacrol, and thymol, that fight infections from staph and ecoli.

Pau D’ Arco is a powerful blood cleaner that slows or kills many viruses such as the flu, herpes, HIV, and polio. It is also used for candida, stomach inflammation, asthma, bronchitis and healing wounds.

The essential oil of Eucalyptus is wonderful for rubbing on chest and feet in a diluted form to cut down on coughing. It can be added to boiling water to creates steam that kills germs in the air and opens the breathing passages.

If you have a friend that is afraid of this latest virus, I invite you to send this information to them to give them knowledgable solutions to keep their immune system healthy.
