C.W. Leadbeater, the highest-ranking officer of the Theosophical Society, described the Spleen Chakra as a radiant and luminous sun with the ability to distribute its energy to empower our entire body. A healthy spleen provides nourishment for all the chakras to function optimally resulting in a healthy immune system, but it also gives the body the might to conquer all of life’s challenges.

The spleen chakra is not talked about very much and it is located behind the stomach on the left side of the body. When this chakra is open and receiving energy, it provides the strength for the spleen to produce T-Cells from the bone marrow. These T-Cells clean the garbage off the red blood cells and dump the waste into the lymph glands which are the garbage sacks of our body.

In 1988, I learned a huge lesson about the importance of a healthy spleen during a Live Cell Analysis session, where a drop of my blood was scanned by a micro-scope to discern the health of my body. The technician looked at me in disbelief and said, ‘I cannot find any T-Cells. how are you able to stay alive?’ I responded with my crazy humor, ‘I am a humalien!’ We laughed and she proceeded to search further into my blood showing me there were no T-Cells and telling me that if my spleen did not produce any T-Cells, my body would become septic and die.

At the time, I was mystified how this happened to my spleen, but hindsight is 20/20. I realized my spleen had shut down from a decade-long, nomadic lifestyle while experiencing an abusive marriage. Every day brought survival challenges with dumpster diving, begging for food, working in the fields, sleeping under bridges, bathing in freezing rivers, and having many near-death experiences while hitchhiking around the western United States.

Reminiscing on these memories, I left the office clutching a piece of paper with a list of supplements to rebuild my spleen feeling grateful to have this information. But I knew, I had to let my spleen vent all the emotional body trauma, so I created a ‘Spleen’ journal and wrote every memory that came up linked to the nightmare I had lived for 10 years.

Today, I look around the world to see the terror, apprehension, panic, shock, and negativity pouring into some individual’s spleen chakras filling it with the vibrations of fear. These emotions compounded with worry, overthinking, and anxiety create a black cloud in the spleen chakra. This could result in a spleen Qi deficiency and if it continues, it could spiral into a chronic health concern and deterioration the expression of the spleen’s instant knowing.

Some of the symptoms of a weak spleen are fatigue, digestive disorders, abdominal distension, loss of appetite, pale tongue, inability to concentrate or think clearly, loose stools, weak limbs, bruising, mysterious swelling, dull complexion, edema, frequent urination, nausea, and obesity.

The spleen is a fist-shaped, purple organ that sits behind the stomach and when it detects bacteria, viruses, or other germs in your blood, it produces white blood cells known as lymphocytes to fight these destructive bacterias, viruses, and infections. Also, cooked foods stabilize the spleen such as certified/organic, non-GMO black/brown rice, quinoa, parsnips, yams, sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, rutabagas, parsnips, turnips, pumpkin, winter squash, lentils, peas, garbanzo beans, azuki beans, black beans, kidney beans, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, fennel, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, leek, onion, ginger, garlic, seaweeds, kelp, and chives. These are stimulating and warming to the digestive system but please take time to chew your food thoroughly and relax when you eat to ensure proper digestion. There are solutions to all problems and our emotional health is especially important for the spleen right now, so take time to nourish and love yourself as much as possible during the changes happening on our big blue marble. Honor and express all your emotions in a safe place, especially sadness. Reduce all stressors and only take on new projects that are in harmony with your being. Take time every day to listen to what inspires you or take walks in nature to connect with the earth. After you have ‘Vented Your Spleen’, find things that make you laugh to open your heart which will release tension and toxins. Pray and meditate to reduce worry or overthinking. Cuddle with loved ones or a nice, big pillow to give you a sense of well being.
